On June 29th, the B.C. government announced that the Province would be moving to Step 3 of the Restart Plan on July 1, 2021. According to the information released, there are “no capacity limits or restrictions on religious gatherings and worship services”.

What does that mean? Our doors are wide open... literally! You'll be able to enter through the main doors of the church now, rather than the side door that has been the entry point for the past 16 months. No contact tracing will be required. We invite you to arrive early to give yourselves lots of time to prepare for Mass.

Ongoing Health and Safety Measures

Do I have to wear a mask?
The provincial health officer recommends masks in indoor public spaces especially for those who are not fully vaccinated (considered 14 days after the second dose). We must give one another the benefit of the doubt if someone is not wearing a mask at Mass. Please do not take it upon yourself to enforce rules when you do not know someone's personal circumstances.

Do I have to socially distance?
Physical distancing is no longer necessary. Let's be respectful to one another if we're not completely comfortable with close physical contact. We've been through a lot over the past 16 months and changes to regular contact may take some time. Some people will feel comfortable hugging or shaking hands and others may want to continue to stay 6 feet apart as best they can. If you'd like to socialize, there's space on the plaza outside the main doors of the cathedral.

Can I sing?

Where did the sacrament of Confession go?
Confession times have remained the same as above, but have been relocated within the confessionals at the back of the church.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to call the office at 250-388-5571.
