125th Anniversary

St Andrew's Cathedral has begun its 125th anniversary celebrations with special masses celebrated on Oct 29th & 30th for the Dedication of a Church. Our festivities will continue throughout the coming year which dovetails into the 150th Anniversary of Canada. Special liturgical and cultural events highlighting the architectural beauty, acoustical excellence, and historical and spiritual relevance of the Cathedral in our Victoria community will be on the calendar. Click on this link:   Concert Series Calendar for a snapshot of some of the concerts and events that are being planned for the next few months.

On Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 pm, we'll be offering a concert event made up of choirs from the 6 Island Catholic Schools:

  • John Paul II School (Port Alberni)
  • St. Joseph's Elementary School (Chemainus)
  • Queen of Angels School (Duncan)
  • St. Joseph's Elementary School (Victoria)
  • St. Patrick's Elementary School (Victoria)
  • St. Andrew's Regional High School (Victoria)

Join us in celebrating the Cathedral and Island Catholic Schools!  Admission is FREE, but a free-will offering to support the Cathedral's Organ Fund will be gratefully accepted.

Mark your calendar and join us in the festivities of the Mother Church of our Diocese!

2017 Bishop’s Gala

The Bishop’s Gala Committee is pleased to announce that tickets for the 2017 Bishop’s Gala will go on sale on March 15. The Gala will take place on Saturday, May 6th at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall in Victoria. Doors open at 6 pm with a champagne reception, followed by a sit-down dinner. There will be Silent and Live Auctions, and an abundance of fun and fellowship!

The purpose of the Gala is to raise funds to further the work of our RVM Sisters on the West Coast. The success of last year’s Gala provided enough funds to the Diocese to secure temporary accommodation in Port Alberni and purchase a vehicle; further funds are needed for a residence in Ahousaht and to help us continue to support this important pastoral mission. We will celebrate our progress over the past year, and reaffirm our commitment to this journey with our Nuu-chah-nulth sisters and brothers.  Tickets are $100 per person; tables of 8 and 10 are available. Tax receipts will be issued in the amount of $25 per person. Tickets will be available starting March 15 by phoning the Pastoral Centre at (250) 479-1331 or through EventBrit  (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-bishops-gala-tickets-32330852450).  The number of tickets is limited, and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis … don’t delay!

Diocesan Family Conference (Aug 24 - 27)

Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Diocesan Family Conference on the shores of beautiful Nanoose Bay!  Last year, 300+ people of all ages spent a glorious weekend together with their families relaxing on the beach, listening to amazing speakers, singing around the beach fire, playing and praying together.  This year, our speakers are Josh and Denise Grimard -- all the way from Bishop Gary's old parish in Telegraph Creek, BC -- where they serve as missionaries.  Our these this year is "Our Mission:  In the family, in the community and the world".  Special guest:  Ryan Mitchell, our youth's favourite missionary from Face 2 Face Ministries!

Call Marnie Wynans at 250-723-3263 for more information.  Registration will be open soon on the Diocesan website:  rcdvictoria.org

For Young Adults

Are you between the ages of 24 - 36?  Then you're perfect for our resurrected Young Adults Group facilitated by Fr. Harrison Ayre.  Beginning September 25th, following the 5 pm Mass, we will meet each week in the parish centre for food, discussion and fellowship.  Our topics will be many and varied, but our primary purpose is to create a space for young adults of the Cathedral parish to make lasting friendships with other Catholics.
